Admissions Parents interested in applying for admission for their children to Laurel Hill should first come tour the school. Tours can be arranged by calling the office. Eligibility Nursery School Children must be 2 years and 9 months old on the first day of school. No diapers or pull ups. Pre-K Children who are five years old before December 2 will be eligible for the Pre-K program; children with birthdays between December 3 and January 31 will be admitted upon prior staff approval. School Tours School tours are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., all year long. Please call to make an appointment. Unfortunately, children are not allowed on the tours. Applications Applications are given at the conclusion of the school tour. Your application is considered filed on the date you pay your application fee. The application fee is $45. Rates Rates for the 2009-2010 School year are as follows: Tuition Pre-school participating $300/month Pre-school non-participating $668/month Pre-K participating $397/month Pre-K non-participating $899/month Extended Care Rates (as space allows) Contracted extended care $7.35/hour Drop-in extended care $10.50/hour Please note that our extended-care program is currently being restructured. Details will be provided as soon as they are available. All rates are subject to yearly increases, typically to allow for pay raises and increased costs. However, because we are a cooperative, all rate changes must be approved by the membership. Financial Aid Financial aid is available and is an important part of our budget. Feel free to ask for paperwork when requesting your application. Admissions Criteria Preference is given to current members, then siblings of current members, and then alumni. After that we do try to stay in the order of applications filed, though we reserve the right to diversify for age and gender. The parents are not interviewed, and the children are not asked to come in for a play date. Communication After applying to the school, your point of contact will be the Enrollment Chair. We typically start to make calls about the Fall Session in February. Because of the high volume of applicants, we generally don't notify applicants who have not been accepted. Applicants are welcome to contact the school to find out their status. Based on our waiting list you can often determine the likelihood of a spot becoming available. Summer School We offer three sessions of summer school. Enrollment is generally lighter during the summer than during our regular sessions. If your incoming child is old enough, Summer School is a great way to get comfortable with the school and the teachers with fewer kids around. For summer session dates, please contact the office. Requirements upon Admission Upon acceptance of a space, the child is admitted when the Enrollment Chair has received the following completed forms and has submitted them to the Director: Medical examination form for the child, of recent date. Tuberculosis test within the last year for the child and for the working parent(s) or other working adult. Questionnaire of the child's history and family environment. Completion of state-required disclosure forms. Payment of registration fee. Payment of first and last month's tuition.
