Support a beloved Laurel Hill tradition for generations to come.

For nearly 80 years, Laurel Hill Nursery School has been a cornerstone of play-based learning in San Francisco. Our classrooms and multilevel outdoor playground are filled with open-ended, natural materials—water, sand, paint, clay, blocks, branches, flowers—that spark imagination and give children endless ways to explore and learn. This magic exists because of the incredible support of our families, friends, and alumni.

A Rite of Passage for Laurel Hill Children

For decades, Lower Slope has been a special place reserved for our oldest children in the Pre-K and Spring Bees programs. It’s where collaboration, imagination, and adventurous play come alive. Younger children often watch from above, knowing that one day, when they are “big enough,” they too will get to experience the wonder of Lower Slope.

This year, we retired our beloved—but well-worn—mud kitchen that had been lovingly assembled over many years by parents and teachers. It served generations of Laurel Hill children, and now it’s time to build something new, beautiful, and built to last.

Our Goal for Spring: A Brand-New Mud Kitchen

This spring, we’re excited to add a durable, nature-inspired mud kitchen to Lower Slope—one that invites big ideas, imaginative recipes, outdoor science, and collaborative play. We can already picture our Pre-Kers and Spring Bees working side by side, creating new games and friendships as they cook, mix, dig, and explore.
